Women: Time to Fear, Time to Unite

As a brother, as an uncle, and most importantly, as a father, every day I fear for my mom, my sisters, my nieces, my aunts, and most importantly, my daughter. I fear what the future holds in terms of their freedom to make choices for themselves, whether it be to work or not, to marry… Continue reading Women: Time to Fear, Time to Unite

Loss of Connection (Part II)

Last week I wrote about the loss of connection at a more personal level. Discussing the change in how society interacts appears to be doing more harm than good for us as a nation and as a world community. This week I want to discuss the loss of connection in the workplace and in support… Continue reading Loss of Connection (Part II)

The Loss of Human Connection (Part I)

At the airport this week, I did my customary stop at Hudson News to buy a snack and a drink, and sometimes a book or magazine. When I went to the counter to pay, I was asked if I was paying cash or card. Since I’m not one to carry cash, I said card. At… Continue reading The Loss of Human Connection (Part I)

Democrats: Where are you?!

Too often I ask myself, where are our elected Democrats? We have a pandemic, massive protests, and rioting occurring right now in our nation! Now is the time to be with the people—not speaking to us on TV, not tweeting, not Zooming, not doing robocalls or e-mails. We need you with we the people. We… Continue reading Democrats: Where are you?!

Pay It Forward, and Backward

The hubby and I were talking a little earlier today about how fortunate we are right now in terms of our employment. We both have jobs in which we have been able to work from home. I’m still getting full pay, he is at 80%. During the Indiana hunkering down, we’ve been able to help… Continue reading Pay It Forward, and Backward

Stages of Release…Are We Ready?

Our governor let us know today we will be starting a gradual release from the “hunkering down” here in Indiana. Full release is to be accomplished by July 4th. Stage 1 begins on Monday. Essential travel restrictions will no longer be in effect. Gatherings can increase to 25. Social distancing must still be practiced. Later… Continue reading Stages of Release…Are We Ready?

This Bible Verse is on My Mind

Few know of my religious background or my beliefs. Mainly this is because I’m a fairly private person and I’m respectful of the religious beliefs of others. I would characterize myself as more of a spiritual person over a religious person. The person I speak to the most on religious questions is my mom. Her… Continue reading This Bible Verse is on My Mind

What Does Safe Look Like?

The man in the Oval Office wants the country to reopen. The lead medical expert in the nation, Dr. Fauci, says the virus and data will drive the timeline to do so. The man in the Oval Office doesn’t care too much for what the lead medical expert says because it doesn’t align with his… Continue reading What Does Safe Look Like?

ACEs and Resilience

Today the movie Resilience was streaming free if one had reserved a ticket to do so in advance. Many of my coworkers had spoken highly of the short documentary. It is about Adverse Childhood Experiences and resilience in the face of adversity. The documentary was good, but in a bad way. I say good because… Continue reading ACEs and Resilience
