It’s Thanksgiving Planning Time

I finally have the menu ready for Thanksgiving. It will be:

Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Green Beans
Sweet Potatoes
Cranberries
Stuffing
Pumpkin Pie
Salad
Red Chili with pork

We decided to keep the gathering a little smaller again this year. There will be my husband and I, our youngest, the Papas, my mom, and hopefully my good friend Brooke. It will be our first large-ish gathering on the new table. My hope is next year we are at a point I can invite my entire family to make the drive over, which would be about 50+ people.

The next step is to time everything out, as I’ve written about before. It just helps me focus, especially right now. My brain is on overload pretty much everyday at the moment.

Final step will be to decide which dish set to use. Traditionally we use our special occasion dishes. It has large bowls and platters to go with it. This year, we also have a beautiful white setting for 20 the Papas gave us when they moved to Indiana. They are of a size of plate I’ve been wanting, the food will look great against the white background, and will photograph and look great on the burnt red table cloth.

The set includes platters, multiple sizes of serving dishes, full place settings, and a few little extras that can make a table to from good to great. I’m truly torn because I also love what we’ve always used in the past.

Luckily I have a few more days to wrestle with it. Maybe I’ll ask my mom what she would like since she is traveling the farthest to be here.

Mom???
