A couple of years ago, two of my coworkers and I were talking books while waiting at the airport after a conference we had attended. They asked if I was on Goodreads. I let them know I had been at one point in time, but hadn’t kept up on it. After chatting, they convinced me to give it a try again. I signed up while we waited at the airport.
At the beginning of 2020, and maybe it was happening prior, there was a goal setting challenge. A challenge, which was to set a specific number of books to read by years end. Since I had not been setting time aside to read, something I very much enjoy doing, this was a good challenge to accept. For 2020 my goal was 40 books. I made it, but barely.
For 2021 though, I decided to go even bolder. This time I chose 45 books as my goal. Today I finished number 44. Just one to go!
I have five books in progress. I’m sure I won’t finish all of them before the end of the year. But, I will finish at least one. Thus meeting the goal is within reach.
As we move into 2022, I invite you to join Goodreads. Then friend me on it and we can cheer one another on for a new goal in the new year.
The decision to make now, for me anyway, is, do I reduce, maintain, or challenge myself further in 2022? I want it to be a challenge, but an attainable one.
