A Day of Discovery and Rediscovery

What a great day today turned out to be.

My internal alarm clock went off at the normal time today. Woke up at 5:45 and couldn’t get back to sleep. Went ahead and got up, took care of the dog, and finished a book. Then finished the Costco list.

After Costco, we went to a new meat shop here in town called the Golden Cleaver. It had many of the items we use in our meal preparations at a pretty reasonable price. Bought some ground beef, pork chops, and Italian sausage. Will definitely go back. It isn’t a Keller’s, a great meat shop in Albuquerque, but it is better than what we had before.

I also found another meat shop near by. Since I had time, I decided to explore it as well. This one was a little larger, carried the usual, and then some of the unusual. I’ll go back to this one as well. It has alligator, bison, elk, and rabbit (I forgot to ask if it had venison too). If you have a freezer large enough, it also carries bundles of meat up to half a cow. So between the Golden Cleaver, the Meat Shop of Indianapolis, Fresh Thyme, and the Saraga International Market, all of my meat, produce, and fruit needs are all met.

While driving around, I rediscovered that I have some really good speakers in my car. I so rarely listen to anything but news program. With my break away from the news, I flipped over to the Bluetooth and let the music flow.

I’d forgotten how good it felt to listen to a good song or two. With the volume cranked a little, I got a little emotional as the music washed over me. Felt good to have the volume up, the sun shining, and driving along the back streets with little traffic.

The afternoon was spent putting some raised garden beds together, baking an apple pie, and prepping for tomorrow’s big dinner.

Overall, a very good day. May tomorrow be as well.
