History in the Making

As we live our lives, how many of us think, as an event is happening, “Wow, that’s history in the making!” We might think something is big news, but historical?

Yet, if we sit back and reflect, we live through historical events on a regular basis. In my short life (I plan on living at least another 100 years), there are things being taught as historical now.

There was the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy. Vietnam War protests. Kent State massacre. Great Blizzard of ‘78. Hurricane Sandy and Katrina. Loma Prieta earthquake. Great Flood of 1993. Election of Barack Obama. 9/11. Operation Desert Storm and the Iraq War. Covid-19 pandemic. Two impeachments of former President Trump. Election of the first female Vice President.

And then there is tonight, for the first time in history, two strong women leaders, #1 and #2 in succession line for President sitting behind the President during the 2022 State of the Union address.

Maybe, just maybe, there will be three women on the dais for the State of the Union address in the not too distant future.

Now that would be historical!
