There was a time in which I thought the hate towards people of color would basically die out through attrition. Although I did not, and do not, wish ill upon any one, I was looking forward to a future in which everyone was valued and respected regardless of skin color, or income status, or sexuality.
Based on the events of the past five or six years, I’ve come to believe we are entering a new era of hate and discrimination. Not only is this coming from the usual suspects, but now openly from highly elected officials, and younger people. We also see it coming from all aspects of social media. All of this hate, or what I often think is actually fear of otherness, is now being passed down to new generations.
The question, after a post on saw this evening on social media, a question on my mind often lately is, when and how does it end?
