Read the CCRs!

Our HOA Transition Committee meeting is in a couple of days. I need to do my homework to be prepared for discussion.

One of the topics will be the CCRs (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions). There has been a lot of chatter about the CCRs, both in agreement, and against, some of the items, such as fences, sheds, and lawn designs have been the most emotional.

A goal for me is to see how we can discover the happy middle ground. Yes, we need to have a degree of uniformity. Yes, we all signed on to living in an HOA community. Yes, we need to follow the current CCRs.

However, there also needs to be recognition and acknowledge that owners paid a good sum of money to buy their homes. Homeowners should be able to do as much as possible to have their home be an extension of themselves. The HOA and Architectural Committee should say yes more than they say no.

I’ve put it off long enough. Time to go read.
