Concession Not Necessary

If anyone thought the lame duck was going to follow the norms and traditions of a candidate who lost their bid for election, I hope you’ve come back from Pollyanna land by now. The lame duck will continue to do what he has been doing for four years, give us all the finger when it comes to doing the right thing.

He will continue to act like the immature, ill-mannered, belligerent person he has been, well, since forever. We all knew his demeanor and character as a civilian, and then as the man in the Oval Office. Normally one will grow as a person with age, trying to improve oneself. But, he seems to be the exception to the rule. In fact, I would opine he has grown worse.

It will be almost as if Hell has frozen over for him to concede, since apparently he can’t conceive the voters have actually fired him, and he refuses to take responsibility for anything. The good news is, it isn’t necessary for him to concede. Concession or not, he will no longer be in the highest office of the land at noon on January 20, 2021. Concessions prove someone has integrity, dignity, and honor, words very few, even his supporters, would use to describe him without wondering if lightening is about to strike them.

Even if Emily Murphy continues to refuse to sign the document to allow funds to begin for the transition team to start working, and departments to begin talking to the incoming staff, at noon on January 20, 2021, the lame duck will lose his position. By not signing, all it does is hurt the American public, but when has that ever mattered to this administration.

Even if his sycophants continue lying and spreading disinformation about the election, filing frivolous lawsuits, and screaming voter fraud without any evidence to back up their claims, he will no longer live in the People’s House beginning at noon on January 20, 2021.

The people have spoken, just as they have done since the inception of our great nation. All of us accepted the fact he was elected the leader of the U.S., whether we liked or not, as we’ve done for all Presidents since Washington.

Whether we get a concession speech or not, his term will be ending soon. Biden is President-elect, and as with all past Presidents, we will agree and disagree on his policies. Then, as is our custom, we will get to choose again in four years what kind of country we want and who to lead it.

For now, congratulations President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris! And with all God’s speed, good luck in your new roles.
