Hello everyone,
It has been quite a long time since my last post. Although I didn’t post as much as I had thought I would last year, it was a start. My goal is to post at least two times each month for this school year, starting now.
I thought a great way to get into the habit was to post some of my travels this summer. I’m going to be all over—Plains/Midwest states, Philadelphia, Orlando, and DC. These trips are for personal and professional reasons.
The summer always brings a roadtrip with some of my children. Which of children who go varies each year based on who went last year and behavior. This year it is only my daughter, with my mom joining us.
This roadtrip is all about the Laura Ingalls Wilder/Little House on the Prairie trail. We’ve already stopped in Independence where the Ingalls’ traveled after leaving the Little House in the Big Woods. Here are some pictures of our first stop.
What I always find interesting about these historic sites is the living spaces. We live in homes with hundreds of square feet, while a family of five or six lived in a space of 140 square feet. Only 140 square feet. That is about the size of one of the apartments I had in San Francisco just for me, and it felt very small. However, one can’t beat the beautiful natural view from the land.
Next stop is De Smet, SD.
