I have been wanting a larger mixer for the last couple of years. With all my baking and bread, I have pretty much run the one I have into the ground. It has been very good to us and provided many happy food memories. Sadly, the motor has just gotten less powerful over the past year, maybe just too much Covid baking.
The other day I noticed Costco had the mixer I’ve been wanting. Being Costco, it was about $200 cheaper than anywhere else. The only downside was there were only two choices of color: red or silver. Red would not go with the kitchen, so silver went in the basket.
It was a bit of a splurge, but my new position last October included a salary increase. Since it took so long to get the promotion into the system, I had a nice little bit of back pay in my check this week. The mixer was a little gift to myself that will also enable me to provide gifts to others, one my own personal enjoyments.
We are keeping the old one as a back-up. It will still come in handy during the holiday’s if nothing else. Soft batters are still doable, just not some of the tougher muffins, scones, and cookies.
One of the first things I want to make is Papa Joe’s dad’s pizza dough recipe. I’ve yet to master it, maybe the new toy will change my luck.
