This question came out of nowhere this evening from one of my kids. I was in the middle of making a Roasted Mango and Pineapple Pie when she asked. I’m pretty sure I gave them the look of, “huh?!”
Honestly, the question really didn’t make sense to me. Not because I don’t understand the question, but 1) I’m not sure where the question came from as I don’t think I’ve ever said I felt that way, and 2) Cooking/baking are huge stress relievers so how could I get tired of it.
As the question has rested with me, the honest answer is, I don’t get tired of cooking, but I do need to take a break from time-to-time.
The break is to allow my brain to process through what I’ve been making, did it taste good, did I get any comments about it, how long did it actually take rather that what the recipe said it would take, what modifications might I do next time, is it something I would want to make again, did it come out the way I wanted and should I try again, and often, what do I need to replace in order to make something new.
While the question took me by surprise, it was a good question to step back and reflect upon. I hadn’t really thought about it before.
Do you ever get tired of cooking?
