This morning I found a new blog to follow, The Prairie Homestead (https://www.theprairiehomestead.com). I was looking for a vegetable stock recipe I could make and then can. While I was fortunate to find a recipe I liked on the above website, unfortunately I also found out one must can it with a pressure cooker. Of course, that a pressure cooker is the one toy I don’t have…yet! I’ll have one by the time harvest comes around in August—I’ve already gave fair warning to the hubby.
What I do have though is my new hamburger bun/mini-pie pan! I can’t wait to give it a try. We rarely buy bread anymore, but hotdog and hamburgers buns are not easy to make (or at least they haven’t seemed to be). While at Costco today, we bought some hamburger, so I see the pan being used shortly.
The other two fun things are individual tart pans with removable bottoms, and 8″ rounds of parchment paper. Those would have come in handy for the Triple-Layer Strawberry Pound Cake last week. As for the tart pans, I’ve been wanting those for a while because it will be much easier to get the crust out without breaking. Maybe I’ll give them a first run later this week with the left over dough I had from the Mango Pineapple Pie.
But first, I’ve my heart set on making a Little Debbie-esque Oatmeal Cream Sandwich Cookies tomorrow, along with homemade Peppermint Patties. The Patties are dependent upon being able to find a couple of ingredients needed while on a grocery run tomorrow.
I’ll take some pictures to share if I do.
Happy baking (and eating), everyone!
