All of the above has happened, and is happening, each and every day in the United States. None of the above is normal even with our less than perfect systems.
As I read and listen to social media, mainstream media, and independent journalists, I wonder everyday what it will take for citizens of our great country to finally see and admit we are in trouble.
We have a Republican and Trump regime hell-bent on destroying our republic, our democracy, our freedoms, and our Constitution. We see the chipping away of this daily, with the latest being the attempt to pass the SAVE Act—an act to prevent millions of mostly women, but many men too, from voting.
This regime knows they are losing public support, and a great many of their base voters, because of the actions of Trump, his sycophants, and his lapdogs. If they were to actually run on what they have done and plan to do, and play fair at the voting booth, they know they would lose and lose resoundingly.
Sadly, even with the stories and first hand accounts of what this regime is doing, millions of our citizens remain either oblivious, apathetic, or in denial about what is happening around them. People are still shopping at Target, Home Depot, Amazon, and at other businesses who are financially supporting this regime. People are still watching or reading ABC news, 60 Minutes, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times, and other media outlets who have bent the knee in support of this regime. People are still staying silent about the what they can see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears going on around them.
I’m coming to believe the only way they will move from denial to reality is when they receive a call one of their loved ones has been detained in a concentration camp for speaking out against authoritarianism and the trampling of the Constitution. Or will it take a knock at their own door because someone decided to make an accusation against them and end up in the custody of the American gestapo?
Stand with me and millions of others who care about our freedoms and democracy, who want a free country for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren. Stand with us at the No Kings Day peaceful protest on Saturday, March 28.
As I always say, together we have the power to keep our way of freedoms and ways of life. Come with me to exercise this power.
