Elected Democrats and other Democratic leaders seem to have taken, just let it all burn, on as their motto. From my viewpoint, since they didn’t win they seem to be acting like Cartman from South Park, with his catchphrase, “Screw you guys, I’m going home.” Feels like they are just fine with letting the country burn to the ground after deciding not to challenge the voting process in the swing states.
Are any of you as angry at the Democrats as I am? With the Fascist’s moving so fast this week to stage a non-violent coup, with the help of all elected Republicans from the White House down, Democratic leaders and organizers seem to have gone into hibernation—letting the FAFO play out with all of us suffering. All I’ve seen or heard from Democrats have been platitudes or comments such as these:
- Representative Gwen Moore (WI), said, and I’m paraphrasing, Musk is conducting a power grab of sensitive information like Social Security numbers and banking information. She ended with the statement, “We should all be asking why he wants it.”\
- Senator, Adam Schiff (CA), said, again I’m paraphrasing, that for Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, or Trump pardons, it shows their confirmation commitments mean nothing.
To both of them I say, no shit Sherlock! We already know this. Rhetoric in the current state of affairs means absolutely nothing.
I do need to pause for a moment to give credit to those elected Democrats who are fighting back in both words and actions. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), and Jasmine Crockett (TX), have been on fire for a while, but even more so since the inauguration. They have given ideas or ways to protest to everyone’s comfort level, actual action that might be taken. Letitia James, Attorney General of New York, isn’t backing down. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker took concrete action this week when he issued the order that anyone arrested as part of the January 6 insurrection may not hold any state job. There was also a religious group, the Quakers, finally pushing back,. They filed a lawsuit to stop ICE from raiding schools, hospitals, churches, and other places of sanctuary, showing what real Christians must do in the face of tyranny.
These few are not enough to be a movement or to motivate direct action by the people of the United States. I want to know where other leaders are and why are they hiding. Where is Vice President Kamala Harris, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Governor Tim Waltz, Billionaire Oprah Winfrey, Representative Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Governor Josh Shapiro, Representative James Clyburn, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Entertainer Beyonce, Governor Andy Beshear, Entertainer Taylor Swift, First Lady Jill Biden, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and Billionaire Mark Cuban?
Where are activists Stacey Abrams, Reverend Al Sharpton, David Hogg, LaTosha Brown, William Barber II, Liz Theoharis, Ashley Judd, Santiago Mayer, and so many more that were active during the election cycle? We need you more than ever to bring your massive reach and organizing skills to action.
Is it that most, if not all of them, have amassed enough wealth they are afraid to lose it? Are they so well off they can escape the country if it goes from worse to even more worse? Is it because they feel, as it seems the Democratic Party feels, as stated before, to just let it all burn?
I will freely admit that I am not an organizer, but I will get involved as best and as much as possible when given direction. I’ll protest, boycott, write, call, post, donate, and such to the degree possible, which I believe people of conscience will also do when given the chance and the direction.
For the moment, there are two planned protests that I’ve heard of, but in full transparency, haven’t been able to fully dive into what is being asked by them at the moment. As always, I highly encourage you to do your own research.
You can find information on the first, General Strike US, at generalstrikeus.com. The second is called the 50 Protest, 50 States, 1 Day, with information on Reddit at r/50501; this one seems loosely organized, so please do your homework with it.
This week has been a hailstorm of things to follow, to research, to fightback on, to the point of just being overwhelming and exhausting.
Remember, this is what a tyrant wants, what the Republican Administration wants us to feel. Do not give in and give up. Take breaks when you need. Practice self-care. Get rest. But please, please, don’t give up. All, as bad as it seems, is not lost. We who care for democracy and rule of law will prevail. And, we must all acknowledge it will not be an easy achievement and that it will most likely get worse before it gets better.
If we don’t give up the good fight and get into some good trouble, we will triumph!
We will triumph!
