The hubby and I are in New York. After 20+years together, this is our first trip alone! We’ve been all over, but always with friends or family. Hopefully he’ll be a good travel companion.
The trip did start off a little shaky, due to me. I had in my mind what I thought was our flight time, only to wake up to realize I was an hour off and not in our favor. Thankfully we pulled it off and arrived safe and sound and in time for the flight (delayed and a gate change later of course).
Upon arriving, we were a little daring, especially after seeing the cost of an Uber, in deciding to take the subway into Manhattan. It was fun and our quickest ride into the City so far. I’d recommend doing it as long as you can do stairs with your luggage.
After storing our luggage, we had a little breakfast. Off to the park afterwards where we had a leisurely stroll. While there we played some checkers, saw a castle, admired the flora (and the eye candy), oo’d and awed over some cute turtles, and had an ice cream. Very relaxing actually.

The evening held dinner with a friend I had met in San Francisco and his other half who now live in New York. We ate at The Smith across from Lincoln Center. The food and company was quite nice. We laughed, reminisced, and empathized about the ups and downs of family. If in town, check the restaurant out, but ask for outside seating as it was quite loud inside.
Our last adventure for the evening was the Brooklyn Bridge. Walking across it has been on my bucket list for a long time. Luckily I have a hubby that is open to doing things and indulges me. Who knew walking across a bridge could be so exciting. The weather, the company, and the views couldn’t have been more perfect. I also got to be in Brooklyn for the first time, even if only to step over the Welcome to Brooklyn sign by a step.

The evening ended with ice cream at Soft Swerve in China Town. I had one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had—Hot Chocolate. They have some interesting choice of flavors and cones. Another place to stop by when in the neighborhood.

Let’s say I slept quite soundly and contentedly last night. And this was just our first day!
I’ll close with, since I’m in New York, I must admit that I was wrong in a recent post. Trump was convicted and I had said he’d be found non-guilty. Kudos to that brave jury and may we never know who they were for their safety.
